Generative Change based Vinyasa Yoga practice

This is an attempt to theme a Vinyasa Flow yoga practice with the six step model of Generative Change. Based on the work of Robert Dilts and Stephen Gilligan this is the model of generative coaching and its dynamics and energies have some synergies with the flow of a yoga class:

1. Opening the COACH field: COACH is an acronym for centered, open, aware, connected, holded; and it refers to a guiddance to a resourceful state i.e. via meditation, bodyscan etc. This would be in the yoga practice when we find our seat onn the mat, connect to the breath, and warm up the body.

2. Set the intention: what is the intention or what do you want to create most in your life - this may aligns to whom we contribute our class (a goddess, a beining, etc). As of this we may connect with what we want to practice and its larger meaning to whom we want to contribute it.

3. Develop a Generative State: what resources do we have, how can we align them and get them in a good readiness? The flow of sun-salutations and its precise movements in synergy with the breath may guide us into a generative state

4. Take Action: this could be the state when we work with the body. Entering poses like Warriors, Triangle, Tree and Balancing Poses. Considered action where we find yoga today.

5. Transform Obstacles: where are our boundaries? How can we take them with us and work with the possibilities of today and right now. Can we access arm balances such as crow pose? Access postures where the middle of the body is higher than the head? Or balance in Warrior 3 or Half Moon pose? Yoga is the unity of mind and body; we not 'pushing' ourselves but consciously expand to our possibilities. What is possible today? What resources can we develop through our practice?

6. Deepening the changes: we worked through the body and perhaps have deeper flexibility in the hips as well as deeper back- and forward bends. We access these resources, slow down the pace, and surrender into stillness. At this point the action of our practice will bring us peace, relaxation, and a charged state. Here we access the resources and bring it into the world. I like to add this is an attempt.

There are many forms of yoga and a range of possible techniques which may fit in as well. Likewise the Generative Change process is very individual and based on our subjective experiences. Therefore there is not a single way to do it. Rather than that my aim is to give you some inspiration to tip into the magic of Generative Change and Yoga with this flow.

Enjoy the practice!

Namaste!
